NAME: Endowment House & Gunnison Ward records have Cecelia. 1870 Census, TIB Card & Death Cert have Celia. Tombstone has Madselia. FGR received from great granddaughter Charlotte Dorf has Madsilia. E-mail from Charlotte Dorf says "her full name was Madselia Cecelia Anderson." I suspect that Cecelia/Celia was the shortened form of Madselia.

The ages of Celia and John C. exactly match the ages of our Cecelia as given in all records, and the age of John Christian as given in the Gunnison Ward Member record. The Mads in this household is certainly Cecelia's father (He is the right age). I'll bet the 45 year old Sissy is her mother Annie--she is the right age. And I'll bet the the 65 year old Christian is her grandfather. Note that the enumerator did not change the surname to Metcalf when he got to Celia and John C. That could indicate that either she was going by Anderson in 1870, or the enumerator was unclear as to her surname. John C. went by Metcalf his whole life. Note that this house is only doors away from the house in which Mary Cathering Dahling Metcalf (later to become the plural wife of John Edward Metcalf, Jr.) was living!

OLD RESIDENT DIES AT SPARKS
Mrs Celia Jackson a resident of the United States since she was five years old died this morning at her home in Sparks at the age of seventy-nine years. She had lived in Sparks for the last eight years.
She was a native of Denmark and came to this country with her parents first locating in Iowa and ten years later going by ox team to Utah where she resided for twenty two years. Thence she went to Oregon and eight years ago came to Sparks to make her home.
Surviving are a son and daughter James Bedford and Mrs. D S Hill, four grandchildren Mrs. LE Shipley and Ephraim, Nadina, and Verda Hill, two sisters Mrs Sarah Michaelson and Mrs Mary Jensen and two brothers David and William Andersen.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed as yet. The body is at the O'Brien Mortuary.
Wednesday, October 9, 1929, page 2:
JACKSON: Friends are invited to attend the funeral service for the late Celia Jackson, to be held at the O'Brien mortuary tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon at three o'clock under the auspices of the Church of Latter Day Saints. Interment, Gunnison, Utah.

BIRTHPLACE: Death cert has Marysville, Utah but there is no Marysville in Utah. E-mail from Charlotte Dorf says she was born in Marysvale, Utah. Marysvale is in Piute County.

1900_US_CENSUS: This Phamey gives exactly the right month and year of birth, but her birthplace and that of her parents is totally wrong. Maybe she was trying to obscure the fact that she was from Utah and hence a Mormon? Or maybe the Phamey in this Oregon census is different Phamey married to different Mr. Kennedy with a different son named Frank. (Our Phamey's obituary names son Frank Kennedy)

Sparks Matron Passes at Home
Mrs. Phamey Hill, long-time Sparks resident, died at her home at 1917 B Street this morning at the age of sixty-four years. She had been ill for the last month.
Born in Marysvale, Utah, Mrs. Hill came to Nevada thirty years ago. She had been a resident of Sparks most of the time since her husband, the late Daniel S. HIll, operated a grocery store in Sparks for a number of years.
Surviving are eight children: Mrs. H.C. Jones of San Diego, Calif, Mrs. Vernon Straum of Boise, Idaho, Frank Kennedy of Weiser, Idaho, Ralph K. Jones of Santa Maria, Calif, and Mrs. Preston Hill, Verda Hill, Mrs. L.E. Shepley and E.M. Hill, all of Sparks. Four grandchildren, Preston Leon Hill, Daniel R. Hill, Lyla Lee Shepley and Mason Shepley, all of Sparks, also survive. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the O'Brien-Rogers funeral service.
Saturday May 10: DEATHS: HILL. Friends are invited to attend the funeral services Monday at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Phamey Hill, at the O'Brien-Rogers chapel under the direction of the Latter Day Saint Church. Interment, Mountain View Cemetery.
