IMMIGRATION: Immigrated to Utah with uncle John Edward Metcalf. source: listed with JE Metcalf family in report of Claudius Spencer's Company; FHL #1259740; copy in poss of Vauna Marie Green (the list switched his first & middle names, but it switched every body else's first/middle names too)

RESIDENCE 1856: possibly living in Springville, Utah with the family of his cousin Jane Ann Metcalf & her husband William Bown. Source: 1856 Utah State Census; FHL film 0505913. This census only gives names and sex. It does not give age or relationship and appears to me to give the surname of only the Head of Household. In the household of William Bown, a George is listed... as he is not counted in the household of J.E. Metcalf Sr who was living in Salt Lake at the time, and is said to have removed to Missouri in 1860, it is possible that this George is George Thomas Metcalf.

RESIDENCE: 1871: Forbes Station, Holt, Missouri. Mentioned in the will of his Great Aunt Elizabeth Gill Simpson of Hull, England: "I give and devise unto George Thomas Metcalf of Forbes Station Holt County Missouri in the United States of North America, farmer, the only son of George Thomas Metcalf late of Kingston upon Hull aforesaid, Tailor, deceased All those my four messuages tenements or dwellings situate at Tynemouth in the County of Northumberland..." DEATH: Obituary; source Holt County Missouri Death Notices from area Newspapers 1907-1908; pg 29-30; Northwest Missouri Genealogical Society; St. Joseph, Missouri; FHL book 977.8115 V4h: "Metcalf, George Thomas --died 29 April 1908 in Forbes, Mo., from brights disease. He was born in Hull, Eng., 6 May 1838. Came to the US with his uncle at age of 16 & located a Salt Lake, Utah. In 1860, he first came to Holt Co.. In 1869, he married Mrs Mary Catherine Hobson & settled in Forbes. Seven children were born & 4 are at home-- George Thomas; William Edward; Terressa Jane; & Evert; others are Alonzo, Orange Anthony, of Colo. Springs, Colo.; Mrs Mary Pullen, of Forbes & Mrs Julia Graham, of Savannah, Mo."
