SOUTH OGDEN -- W. Frank Minster, 81, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002 at the McKay-Dee Hospital.
He was born Sept. 3, 1920 in Garfield, Utah, a son of Walter A. and Blanche Metcalf Minster.
He married Lorna Lowther on June 2, 1941 in Ogden. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Frank was employed for many years with Felt Auto Parts as a Salesman. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving as a Naval Aviation Radio Gunner.
He was a member of the LDS Church, serving as a Bishop and as a Bishop"s counselor. He also served in the Stake High Council. He served as a Scout Master and earned his Eagle Scout Award. He served a mission with his wife to the Seoul Korea Temple, He also served as a Ordinance Worker in the Ogden Temple.
Frank loved to play baseball and to bowl. He was the State Horseshoe Pitching Champion and a member of the Utah State Horseshoe Pitcher"s Hall of Fame.
Surviving are his wife of South Ogden; sons James F. (Nancy) Minster, South Ogden; Steve F. (Peggy) Minster, Hooper; M. Brent (Melva) Minster, Morgan; Robert (Debbie) Minster, Uintah; daughters L. Jeanne Bingham, Roy, and Marianne Dowden (Marv), Roy. 26 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother Floyd, one sister Evelyn and one grandson and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 27, at 11 a.m. at the Ogden 49th Ward Chapel, 300 W. 4210 S., with Bishop David Butts officiating. Friends may call at the Ward Monday, this evening, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.

Our loving father, Floyd Edward Minster, 76, passed away on March 19, 2000 to join his sweetheart, Norma, who preceded him in death.
Born August 25, 1923, to Walter Adolph and Blanche E. Metcalf Minster in Garfield, Utah. He was a U.S. Naval veteran of World War II. Upon his return he married Norma Reid on May 12, 1947, in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had been married over 49 years when Norma passed away on January 28, 1997.
Dad was a kind and loving man with an incredible sense of humor. He was a good friend to many people and that sense of humor was well known. He loved people, and in his quiet way he served many. He was active in the LDS Church where he served in many positions in the Kearns 4th Ward. He was a Temple Worker with his wife in the Jordan River LDS Temple. He was a gifted and talented carpenter. He loved sports, and enjoyed coaching little league baseball teams.
His greatest love was for his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, always choosing to be with his family as much as possible. Many memories of his sweet caring ways and funny times are treasured by each member of the family.
He is survived by his children, Peggy (Jack) Snow, Boise, Idaho; Reid (Kathy) Minster, Orem; Deanna (Doug) Funcannon, Sandy; Cheryl (Richard) Chidester, Aurora, Colorado; 19 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank (Lorna) Minster, Ogden. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Evelyn Bridges.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 23, 2000, 1 p.m., in the Kearns 4th Ward Chapel, 4660 W. 5015 So., Kearns. Friends may call Wednesday 6-8 p.m., at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 So. 1700 E., Sandy, and also at the ward on Thursday 11:30-12:45 prior to the funeral at the church.
Interment Valley View Memorial Park.
